Klipa log week 1

Text in Hebrew and English & Images

I’m thinking of writing a diary about my time here, my artists’ residency in Bremen. It’s a great gift for anyone, in that it allows a person to encounter themselves again — and it’s surely great for an artist to have such a period without distraction, for the curious and inquisitive mind. So I have six weeks in a bright, beautiful studio, accompanied by the background noise of the nearby river; when you open more than one window, you feel as if you are standing near Niagara Falls. Luckily the sound of running water is one of my favorites.  Talks by photographers have always fascinated me, discovering a bit of the world behind their work, and about their work process. What are the sketches that hang on their walls? What do their studios look like and which books are spread out on the table? The only picture engraved in my memory from Diane Arbus’ exhibition in Berlin years ago is a huge, full-scale photo of her New York studio wall with newspaper clippings, scribbles and sketches. This Klipa diary will be a visual and written account of what is happening in my studio here, and maybe outside as well. Every week I will upload something new and share. I hope that you enjoy it.
